The Role
The purpose and objective of this position is to manage Amana Living’s human resources function for a workforce of approximately 2000 people. The Head of Human Resources ensures the overall performance of the Human Resources including developing and implementing HR policies and procedures, overseeing employee relations and industrial relations, and managing the company's recruitment and onboarding process. The HR Manager also works closely with the Chief People Officer and other Leadership Team Executives to ensure that the company's HR strategy is aligned with its business goals.
What you’ll do
Talent Acquisition
- Develop and implement best practice recruitment processes and technology to attract and retain the right employees for Amana Living
- Provide development, coaching and mentorship to the Talent Acquisition team lead to best support the Talent Acquisition team, ensuring processes are followed, compliance documentation is completed and targets are met
- Ensure Talent Acquisition team provide professional end to end management of the recruitment process from developing the recruitment specifications when sourcing through to onboarding for all vacancies in line with workforce plans
- Work with Talent Acquisition Lead and L & OD team to ensure Hiring Managers are suitably equipped and trained to manage the talent acquisition process
Employee Relations and Industrial Relations
- Provide leadership on employee and industrial relations matters such as enterprise bargaining, performance management, disciplinary procedures, resolution of disputes, conflicts and other situations between staff, unions and management.
- Provide contemporaneous, strategic and practical advice to managers and staff on a range of human resource and employee relations queries, in accordance with policy, procedure and legislative requirements.
- Review and develop HR policies and procedures to ensure the needs of the organisation and legislative requirements are achieved in combination with embedding Amana Living’s Vision, Mission and Values
- Responsible for Amana Living’s job evaluation system, advising on job design, job descriptions and the correct grading of jobs
- Assist managers with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects
Project Leadership
- Participating in and leading projects for the Human Resources and the wider People and Culture teams to ensure that the agreed outcomes are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Ensuring that effective change management strategies are implemented so that once implemented, initiatives become embedded into business-as-usual practice
Leadership, Strategy and Culture
- Acting as a role model and leading the organisation’s culture, using the Amana Life program and other available tools to continuously embed and promote positive culture outcomes
- Setting clear, high standards of performance consistent with the organisation’s values to ensure that the team maintain delivery of outcomes within expected timeframes
- Rewarding innovation and continuous improvement across the teams to ensure engagement and a sense of value is shared with all team members
- Ensuring that performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner, supplemented by regular informal feedback, and coaching to direct reports and the broader team
- Participating in relevant internal and external forums that further the interests of Amana Living’s operations, and promote Amana Living both within the sector and across the community
Relationship Management
- Build and continuously develop a highly effective Human Resources team that integrates recruitment and HR delivering required outcomes while assisting team members to progress in their careers
- Work with other members of the PCLT to ensure the business partnering model across People and Culture is embedded and provides high level support to the operational business
- Partner with Workforce and Operations Managers to continuously improve the provision of services to the business
About You
- Professional knowledge gained through significant experience in Human Resources
- Excellent Industrial Relations/Employee Relations knowledge and experience negotiating Enterprise Bargaining Agreements and managing matters before the Fair Work Commission.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to engage and influence stakeholders, including Executive Team members and Operational Managers in promoting a positive people management culture
- Track record in delivering successful HR projects and support major organisational change; influencing, building and sustaining relationships to achieve results
Essential Criteria
- Current Flu Vaccination
- Police clearance less than 6 months old
- Successful completion of reference check & Pre-employment questionnaire
- Degree or equivalent in law, HR, IR or a related field
