The Role

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely reconciliation of banking and aged care funding for Amana Living and its associated entities.

The role also involves administering the credit card and employee expense claim processes, managing fixed assets, and supporting month-end and year-end financial procedures — all while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and a commitment to high-quality work.

The position is being offered on a Full-Time basis working from 8:30am to 4:30pm from our Subiaco Head Office.

 

Key responsibilities:

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Responsibility for overall aged care funding process
  • Complete detailed high-volume reconciliations relating to Department of Health
  • Daily and monthly bank reconciliations, with all exceptions investigated and cleared
  • Manage fixed assets including additions and disposals in line with Accounting Standards
  • Assist with month end and year end processes including funding generation, accruals, prepayments, overhead allocations, journals, and balance sheet/subledger reconciliations

Expense and Payment Administration

  • Credit card and employee expense claim processing, administration, and follow-up
  • Manage disbursement of allowances to residents

Financial Performance Analysis

  • Assist in monthly financial performance review by identifying and analysing variances (actual to budget)

General Support and Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by the Manager Financial Accounting or Head of Finance & Procurement

You are detail-oriented, proactive, and able to adapt to changing situations. With strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, you work well independently and in a team. You’re committed to ongoing professional development and comfortable interacting with older people, reflecting the values of Amana Living’s Mission and Philosophy.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Evidence of COVID-19 and Current Flu vaccinations per Amana Living policies
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment form and reference checks
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word/Excel primarily)
  • Previous experience using an ERP system would be advantageous (Desirable)
  • Aged care experience in a similar capacity is preferred but not mandatory (Desirable)
