The Role
The role of the Occupational Therapist is to provide occupational therapy services to residents within Amana Living’s residential care facilities. Our Occupational Therapists assess the therapeutic and enrichment needs of residents. They plan, deliver and evaluate person-centred interventions that aid residents to maintain or improve their functional performance, enhancing their quality of life & wellbeing.
This position is based at our Bull Creek Transition Care.
This role is offered on a permanent part time basis working Tuesdays & Thursdays (0830-1645), 30.4 hours per fortnight.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments that identify residents’ functional capacity, strengths, and lifestyle goals.
- If there are admissions, you would be expected work closely in collaboration with the existing Occupational Therapists.
- Provide recommendations for resident care.
- Enhance the quality of life and independence of Amana Living resident by delivering evidence based occupational therapy interventions.
- Contribute to the development of holistic, individualised, resident focussed care plans in partnership with the resident and their carer/advocate and Amana Living team
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of therapeutic activity programs in assigned residential care sites. This includes ensuring compliance of the occupational therapy program with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards.
- Provide individualised therapy services, including equipment prescription, to enable residents to maintain functional capacity, prevent deterioration, maximise quality of life and engage with community activities.
- Regularly review and evaluate occupational therapy care plans to ensure identified goals are achieved and quality of life and healthy ageing promoted.
- Maintain current knowledge of contemporary occupational therapy practice and ensure all clinical practice is in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, professional code of ethics, professional code of conduct and available evidence.
- Ensure all documentation is timely, accurate and maintained and actioned in accordance with the Amana Living Clinical Governance Framework, organisational policies and procedures and confidentiality agreement.
- Consult with Amana Living staff in a multi-disciplinary manner including making recommendations for involvement of other allied health professionals.
About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in occupational therapy assessment and program development, and the delivery of evidence-based occupational therapy interventions within the Aged Care or Health Services sector. You will possess exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously in a complex environment, characterized by competing demands and tight timelines.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy)
- Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).
- Previous experience working with people living with dementia.
- Evidence of COVID-19 and Current Flu vaccinations per Amana Living policies
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical and reference checks
- NDIS Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain at interview stage)
- Must be willing to attend a 2-day Induction based at our Amana Living Training Institute from 8:30am-4pm.
