THE ROLE

The role of the Occupational Therapist within Amana Living Community Service includes home based occupational therapy assessments and interventions including all areas of activities of daily living, mobility and home safety.

Provision of a Company Car, flexible workplace with the ability to work from home, attractive remuneration – including Salary Packaging! This role is based in our head office in Subiaco. Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.

 

The Occupational Therapist vacancy is to support clients across the Perth Metro area.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing effective personal and clinical care that is best practice, tailored to individual needs and optimising health and wellbeing
  • Equipment prescription and relevant clinical justification (basic equipment through to more complex specialised equipment)
  • Minor modification recommendations with relevant diagrams
  • Recommendation of community-based services
  • Equipment applications for a variety of government equipment programs
  • Group based therapy sessions within a community setting
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments that identify the client’s functional capacity, strengths and lifestyle goals
  • Provide recommendations for client care and report writing
  • Enhance the quality of life and independence of Amana Living clients by delivering evidence based occupational therapy interventions
  • Contribute to the development of holistic, individualised, client focussed care plans in partnership with the client and their carer/advocate and Amana Living team
  • Ensure all documentation is timely, accurate and maintained and actioned in accordance with the Amana Living Clinical Governance Framework, organisational policies and procedures and confidentiality agreement

ABOUT YOU

The work undertaken by an Occupational Therapist involves fairly constant physical activity varying from a low to high intensity but predominantly of a medium intensity, with alternation between walking, sitting and standing activities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with colleagues, clients and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated written communication skills including the ability to complete accurate client record and referral documentation, write reports and communicate with other health professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing technology
  • Experience in community-based assessment and rehabilitation including equipment prescription (basic through to complex), home modifications, linking through onward referrals and service identification and sourcing
  • Demonstrated excellence in specialist assessment and the delivery of evidence based occupational therapy interventions

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) Degree
  • Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Evidence of COVID-19 and 2023 Flu vaccinations
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
  • Successful completion of pre-employment physical and reference checks
  • Current C-Class drivers’ licence
  • Comprehensively insured and registered personal motor vehicle
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
  • Experience in the supervision of others (desirable)
  • Previous experience working with people living with dementia (desirable)
