Amana Living is seeking a passionate and proactive Community Engagement Lead to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and socially connected environment across our retirement living communities. About the Role

As our Community Engagement Lead, you will play a strategic and hands-on role in building a thriving community for older adults. You’ll lead the design and delivery of innovative engagement programs that promote wellness, inclusion, autonomy, and connection. You’ll also take the lead on developing strategic partnerships, securing grant funding, and driving initiatives that support long-term community growth.

You’ll work across teams and alongside residents, families, staff, and external partners to build a meaningful, connected lifestyle that supports the needs and aspirations of every individual in our community.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Engagement Strategy Implementation

  • Design and implement innovative engagement strategies that reflect the diverse interests, backgrounds, and wellness goals of residents.
  • Facilitate regular resident forums, surveys, and feedback sessions to ensure programs are responsive and inclusive.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of a wide range of activities, including social gatherings, educational workshops, wellness initiatives, cultural celebrations, and intergenerational events.
  • Integrate resident life stories, preferences, and feedback into program design to foster personal meaning and connection.
  • Align all engagement initiatives with wellness models that promote autonomy, purpose, and social connection.
  • Identify and apply for grant funding to support and expand engagement opportunities.

Community Partnership & Grant Funding

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local schools, businesses, service providers, and community groups.
  • Facilitate opportunities for collaboration that enrich resident life and increase community involvement.
  • Identify, apply for, and manage grant funding opportunities to support new and expanded engagement initiatives.
  • Develop proposals and reporting frameworks to demonstrate impact and secure ongoing support.

 

Resident Onboarding & Transition Support

  • Work closely with village managers to deliver comprehensive orientation programs for new residents.
  • Conduct welcome meetings and facilitate introductions to fellow residents, clubs, and interest groups.
  • Provide ongoing support during transition periods to ensure residents feel informed, connected, and valued.

Volunteer Program Oversight

  • Recruit, train, and retain volunteers from both the resident population and the broader community.
  • Develop meaningful volunteer roles that contribute to resident life and support the organisation’s mission.
  • Monitor volunteer performance, provide ongoing support, and recognise contributions through appreciation initiatives.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as a trusted liaison between residents, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to embed community engagement principles across operations and services.
  • Work with marketing and communications teams to share resident stories, highlight events, and promote community partnerships.

Event & Program Management

  • Plan and execute a variety of small- and large-scale events, ensuring accessibility, safety, and inclusivity.
  • Manage all logistical aspects including scheduling, transportation, venue setup, catering, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure events are well-documented and evaluated for continuous improvement.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to resident participation, satisfaction, and engagement outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, volunteer hours, and community contacts.
  • Prepare regular reports, identifying trends, successes, and areas for improvement.

 

 

What You’ll Bring

  • A passion for community-building and enhancing the lives of older adults.
  • Strong strategic thinking and program design skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience in community engagement, program development, aged care, social services, or a related field.
  • A track record of identifying and securing grant funding or managing community-based funding initiatives.
  • Organisational and project management strength, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Creativity, empathy, and a collaborative mindset.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification or demonstrated experience in community development, human services, aged care, health promotion, events management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering community engagement programs,
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders including residents, families, staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Strong event and program planning skills, including logistics, budgeting, risk assessment, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with older adults and a strong understanding of the importance of social connection, inclusion, and purpose in later life.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High-level organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital tools used for communication, reporting, and event planning.

Essential Requirements

  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months) or NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Proof of current influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations
  • WA C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Successful completion of pre-employment medical and reference check
